Beach time with the McGahas

Paul is finally finished with school and ready to enjoy some summer before starting back up on June 25th. He took his board exam on June 7th. He started at 7:30am that morning and wasn't finished until 3:30pm that afternoon and only took a 30 min lunch break. Now he just has to wait until July to find out how he did, but I am sure he did amazing!! It's nice to finally have him back to himself these days and refreshed.

Paul's family came down for a visit the weekend after his test. We lucked out with some really nice weather. It was supposed to rain, but we never got rained on. They arrived Friday afternoon, and we grilled out that evening and had a good time hanging out around the house.

On Saturday morning, we headed for the beach. It was a nice day for the beach with a light breeze making the heat bearable. Paul and his brother and sisters enjoyed boogie boarding, building sandcastles, and skim boarding for most of the afternoon. We also packed a lunch and enjoyed lunch on the beach. I even braved the beach and as much as I wanted too, I couldn't hide my beach ball belly. Oh well, at least I was able to find a cute and comfortable suit.

After lunch and a few more boogie rides, Paul took Jacob and his dad to go fishing off the jetty near where we were. Paul's favorite thing to do in Galveston is go fishing in the ocean. He is slightly obsessed, but I am glad he has a stress relieving activity to enjoy through medical school. They didn't have great luck fishing today, even thought he pelicans were making it look easy. Jacob was the only one to catch a fish.

After the fishing, the sun was setting and we packed up and stopped for some Italian ice from Rita's before leaving the island. We finished the night with pizza and games back at the house.

Paul's family had to get back to Tyler right after church that Sunday since they hadn't been there in a week. Paul's dad started an interim position and they had spent the week in Austin before coming to visit us so I am sure they were ready to get home and sleep in their own beds. It was a great visit and perfect timing right after Paul's test. Paul's family is the first of many visitors on the books for this summer. I love that people come to visit us, and we have a home large enough to host them, and live in a place with tons of fun things to do. We are definitely blessed.
